Bellechasse near Viau?
Someone mentioned a neighbourhood resto on Bellechasse near Viau a while ago. I've forgotten what type of food they served and whether or not it was BYOW. Could someone provide this info (and the name of the place, while we're at it :>) Thanks in advance.

Le Répertoire is probably the place you're talking about. It's a french bistro owned by Christophe Geffray of Chez Christophe. The website doesn't say anything about being BYOW though the main restaurant in Outremont is. There's the link : http://www.bistrolerepertoire.com/

I don't believe it is a BYOB - it is the non-official "cantine" for the medical staff at Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital. Very reasonable prices for good food. You could contact them to ask if it is BYOW, but I think not - believe the wine list is modest but reasonably priced. Nice little place.

I did end up going to Le Rpertoire Saturday with three others. They open at 5:30 Saturdays and I called around 4PM and left a message requesting a 6PM reservation. They did call back around 5PM saying they couldn't accomodate us, but by that time, I was on my way and my party ended up meeting outside. We asked them if they could accomodate us on their small outdoor terrace and they kindly answered "oui".
All four of us had the table d'hote, preceeded by the recommended entrees: Entrée du jour (a terrine a volaille; 2,50 $) and the fameuse crème brûlée au foie gras (6,50 $).
Three of us then had the potage, which tasted a bit like thinned Kentucky FC gravy, while the fourth had the rather interesting Salade fraîcheur.
Two of us then had the Saumon frais et risotto au safran (22 $) as the main. IMO, it wasn't anything exceptional, but I must state that I'm no expert in these matters. The person having the Tendrons de veau braisés, pâtes fraîches parfumées au citron (24 $) was pleased with his choice as was the person having the poisson frais du jour (19 $). It took a little over an our for the mains to arrive after they were ordered. We found this to be too long. I know they were a little short staffed given the four of us on the terrace, but with their short menu, it shouldn't have been that big a deal. We had a concert to attend, so the delay did cause us a bit of stress. It's not a BYOW, but they do offer about 6 reds and 6 whites, of which 3 or 4 can be had by the glass.
Apart from the delay, the service was fine. pleasant enough place, but I'm in no rush to return.

Voir has a very positive critique of Le Repertoire: http://www.voir.ca/restos/chronique.a... Reviewer Jean-Philippe Tastet gave it an excellent write-up as did everyone who at there in 2006 (as did I, with a friend who works at the hospital) - except the most recent comment, in 2007. Could they be slipping?
