Kosher Style Deli Shop????

  • 7

Hello,
Where in the District can I buy the usual...bagels, corned beef, chopped liver, barrel pickles, white fish salad, etc?

Mom is coming for her Birthday/Mother's Day weekend and the big night will be Saturday. She hates going out on Mother's Day so I'm opting for her favorite Jewish soul food on Sunday morning.

Thank you!

    1. So you don't want to dine in, you just want to carryout the stuff? In DC, you're pretty much limited to Krupin's on Wisconsin. Their chopped liver is decent, but the corned beef can be hit-or-miss. Haven't tried their whitefish. Overall reviews of Krupins are mixed since they changed hands. You may be better off hitting the delis in Rockville, or the Hollywood Deli off Route 50.

I would def. go with Krupins...its pretty much the closest thing to a NY deli in the area. Although I must say, the white fish salad from So's Your Mom is quite good. Haven't had their chopped liver at So's but I know they offer it.

      2. youy could always schlep to baltimore if you want some real deli!!

        1. You may want to try Snyder's supermarket in Silver Spring. I'm pretty sure that's where my mother shops when she has brunches.

          1. Parkway Deli on Grubb Road in Silver Spring is the real deal, and not far from you. Celebrity Deli on Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda works too. Potomac Deli in the Village closed about a year ago. I've never been pleased with Krupin's, despite its convenience to you.

Snider's (Ga. Ave & Seminary Rd.) covers all the bases. Nice chubs, nova, all the salads + all usual bagel varieties.Parkway Deli, as noted above, is as good as I've found in this area. You can't go wrong with either one.
