Going to be in Sierra Vista, AZ for 1 week. Any good eats?

Will be in town for business next week and looking to find some decent non-chain places.
Also heard it is not too far from the border...would it be worth it to venture down there for a bite?
Can't go too far as i am sharing a rental car, but I plan on getting out by myself at least one day.

Thanks!!

I just went down to Agua Prieta (border town near Douglas) last month. Like you, we thought it would be a good idea to go down there for a bite to eat. We had a pretty bad experience all around, so I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to read about the place we ate at, you can see my review at: http://chowdownphoenix.com/la-hacienda/

There are also several reviews on Bisbee eats that may interest you. I had really good experiences at both Santiago's and The Bisbee Grille in Bisbee. That's not a far drive from where you're going.

Sierra Vista is pretty desperate, as food goes. And there is nothing too close at the border. Canela Restaurant in Sonoita is fanstastic gourmet restaurant. It's a pretty drive but would take 1/2 hour or so.

La Casita is good Arizona / Sonoran style Mexican food:

I like Seoul Garden Korean restaurant on Fry Blvd. I also like the Q and Lou BBQ just west of it, and a very good steak house is Daisy Mae's just north of Fry Blv. right by the main entrance to Ft Huachuca. Peacock Vietnamese restaurant gets good reviews, but I think it is way over-rated.
