Calling Tallahassee Chowhounds

Would any of you be interested in getting together for dinner at some mutually decided upon restaurant, like Sage or Cypress or Kool Beanz or whatever? I think it would be fun...if it worked we could continue it periodically....each paying his own bill, of course.

If you would like to do this, contact me at

I was unsure of the protocol for this, but Chowhound moderator said this was the way to do it. We would not do RSVP's etc. through this board.

  1. Tried to make this a "sticky topic" but could not....

    1. ...Still looking...only one response so far.

      1. I think that is a great idea and would love to participate if I lived in Tallahassee! There are several "posters" on the Tallahassee topics that seem to have similar tastes and interests in fine dining. It would also be a neat way to meet diverse and different people who have at least one thing in common - enjoying good food and restaurants. I hope it works out.

        1. Hi Steakman. I've searched this board many times but just officially signed up now. Just saw your post, and I'd be interested in getting a group together too. Not a lot of disposable income but I could certainly manage a group dinner every 3 or 4 weeks. I moved to Tallahassee just a couple of years ago after living a few other places (Norfolk and Charlottesville, VA, DC area, Boston and Singapore). What I miss most about the offerings here is Vietnamese food! The only place I've found is Far East Cuisine next to the T.J. Maxx off Thomasville Rd. I actually get cravings for their food and absolutely must hit it every couple weeks, but it's kind of out of the way for me. Other than that, my local favorite for cheap and good food is Black Bean for cuban and Food Glorious Food or Masa for a fancier dinner.

Maybe there will be some more local chowhounds and we can get a group together!

I'm not a serious chowhound but I'm terribly spoiled, having lived in big cities and/or overseas quite a bit. I might be interested in this. Cypress is great, by the way -- we have gone there twice. I hear the same of Sage and Cool Beanz.

Try the vietnamese food at the Rice Bowl in the Winn Dixie shopping center on N. Monroe, north of I10.

We will be back in Tallahassee by late October and would love to learn about Vietnamese food! Maybe later this Fall we can try Far East or even better.... do research for a pot luck supper featuring Vietnamese dishes!

Again, Steakman, thanks for getting all of us together.
