Wife's 30th in Laguna Beach. Please help!

Please help! Need tips for a nice dinner and a fun evening for my wife and I plus 25!!! friends and family. I have looked into Club M, the Whitehouse and am struggling after that. My wife doesn't like Sushi but is pretty open to anything else. I am envisioning a great dining experience then dancing then maybe a little hopping later into the evening for some of the party. Ages 25-40. We LOVE Laguna but don't know enough about it yet after just a few trips. Thanks so much for the help! (Open to any other ideas as well, as I'd like to make it a weekend to remember!)

Mozambique! They only take resvs for downstairs restaurant (which is very nice) - upstairs is 1st come, 1st served. You might be able to reserve outside patio downstairs, but I'm not sure if it's big enough. Fun bar, dancing & often really good bands on weekends - call ahead to check.

Another fun thing to do (minus the dancing) is Rooftop - upstairs at the Casa de la Camino Hotel for incredible sunset drinks (mojitos!) & partying, then go downstairs to K'ya (don;t ask me why the name - it used to be Savouries) for dinner, which I'm not sure how the seating would be, but they should be able to accommodate - more tapas, small plates type menu. They also have an upstairs room off the bar that might work.

        Here here for Mozambique!

I had a birthday dinner there..... really good food, live band in the upstairs bar and they also have a private room that I think would be large enough for your party... It really is the best choice in Laguna for what you seek.

mozambique is decent (their burger is pretty darn good though). however, they changed the recipe for their signature braised shortrib dish......for the worse. quite sad as the last time i had it, the meat was not tender, it was kinda dry and the new sauce was so tangy it was hard to eat. bummer!

A place to look at is Claes in the Hotel Laguna, which is smack in the heart of where most of the action is in Laguna Beach. Claes has a private dining room. Go there if you love seafood, since they serve some of the best in Orange County. http://www.hotellaguna.com/dining.html

              What about Las Brisas?

Caution: I have never had dinner there before, only brunch. But I imagine in the summer the ocean view in the evening must be an awesome touch.

They have such a pretty location.

littlefrenchgirl, you are dead on right.... the view is world class, but the problem with that place is the food. It is a place that can truly be called bad. I have never been for brunch, but have have heard some good things about it. I have however, had dinner there, and we are talking poor quality for rich prices... a tourist trap in a nice package. But hey, with a view like that, you dont really need to do anything else. I can only immagine what would happen if they turned that place around.....

Las Brisas, great for drinks and mingling, but a bit overrated for food. definitely more about the location.

I've had a couple of large parties at the Aegean Cafe on PCH. The food is great and the atmosphere can be fun with hankey and belly dancing.

I've been to the Aegean a lot for large dinner parties and the place rocks! It's meant for large groups and the food, service and drinks will not disappoint.

Thanks so much for these replies! I think we will end up for dinner at Mozambique and maybe cocktails before hand at Las Brisas or The Roof at Casa Del Camino. I have reservations for a coastal cruise Saturday night (Dana Wharf). Does anyone know anything about it?

Fish is good, I'm usually not as impressed with other offerings. Charming atmosphere - you really feel as if you're in the Caribbean!

if you got the extra discretionary income.... I'd recommend the RITZ CARLTON LAGUNA NIGUEL
