Massa Organics rice
I got a package of the Massa brown rice at the Berkeley farmers market last Saturday. Pretty good, mild flavor, very tender. I'll have to compare it with the Berkeley Bowl bulk stuff to see if it's worth the premium.

Excellent rice, I always buy it when at the Farmers Market.
Better, or perhaps just different, then the bulk organic at BB.
I'm always surprised that the verbose instructions on the bag do not include the necessity to refrigerate (or freeze) after opening, for long-term storage.
All brown rice will go rancid if not stored air-tight and cold. -
We've been getting Massa brown rice at the Lakeshore Farmer's Market, but it's not always convenient to go there. Does anyone know if it's available at retail stores--e.g., Berkeley Bowl West? Food Mill, etc.?
TIA

re: Rapini
They sold briefly at the Berkeley Bowl a few years ago, but it didn't work out for them. I think they only sell at a few farmers markets and online. They also sell at the Tuesday Berkeley farmers market in the East Bay. You can contact them through their website to ask.

We bought some of this from the Ferry Plaza stand a couple of weeks ago, and were very impressed--as Robert says, very mild and tender. For my money, it's better than the short-grain brown rice at Rainbow that we usually buy. We're trying to switch to an all whole grain diet, and this rice makes it a little easier!

re: chemchef
Only in 20 lb bags. I checked with a few store workers. At this time no smaller bags. If anyone is interested in 20 lbs ($19, I think but am probably wrong) , it's with the organic rice and beans at the back of the produce section near the fish counter and across from the strawberries.
