Question re: 2003 Clarendon Hills, Astralis

Does anyone have any experience with this shiraz? I was fortunate beneficiary of a very nice gift. I am quite fond of Australian shiraz in general, though my experiences have mostly limited. Off the top of my head, my favorite is probably the 2001 Penfolds St. Henri, with the 2002 Penfolds RWT a somewhat distant second. What can I expect? Or should I simply cellar it and reopen the question in about ten years?

  1. I haven't had the '03.

Only had Astralis once, actually. It was very young and very good. Personally, I've never had a young Shiraz and thought that I opened it too soon (with a proper decant). And I've certainly never had a wine from McLaren Vale and thought that I opened it too soon.

All that said, Robert Parker suggests holding until at least 2010.
