My husband and i will be going to NYC mid june for 2 nights and i am debating which restaurant to go to for dinner. I am hesitationg between Eleven Madison Park, CRU and Lupa. For lunch, i will most likely eat alone since my husband will be in meetings, where do you recommend i go to sit at the bar in Midtown area.
Thanks a lot ffoodies for your reco's

Marseille, on the corner of 9th Av. & 44th St., serves excellent French/Mediterranean cuisine in a very attractive brasserie setting.

We haven't yet been to the Bar Room at The Modern (in MoMA), but it's gotten near universal praise, so it's definitely a place you should consider.

Re: your dinner plans. Of the three restaurants you're considering, I've only been to EMP. Regulars on this board know it's a favorite of mine, so no surprise that I heartily recommend it.

Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station - super New York tradition and lots of sights to entertain

Not exactly Midtown but there is a great lunch spot in "Curry Hill" called Penelope - and they have a small bar (wine and beer only). Very cleverly prepared sandwiches and salads if you're looking to avoid your typical bar fare. It's at 159 Lexington Ave. at 30th street - very close to the 28th St. subway. I believe it's cash only as well.
