One Day in Pittsburgh

Need breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Nothing too special, pricey. Mid-range is OK. Where would you go if you only had one day?

Which part of town are you staying in? and do you like Indian or Malaysian food?

We'll actually be staying out of town, down in Confluence.

Using your criteria, I would breakfast at Pamela's on 21st Street, lunch at Fat Heads in the South Side, and supper at Sixth-Penn downtown on the corner of Sixth Street and Penn Avenue.

I've been hearing good things about Bona Terra in Sharpsburg. Anyone have and thougths on it? From what I've been told it uses mostly of local providers and has a pretty creative menu. The location isn't too great but good food from what I've learned.

I have also, although have not been there...Sharpsburgh is not as bad an area as some would have you think...Tessaro's in Bloomfeild is a great joint...Fathead's is in the last 5 years become a popular place not bad..giant portions of ok food

Bona Terra is fantastic, one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh. If you are coming from NY or Chicago or CA, the prices are going to seem very reasonable as well. The location isn't dangerous, just a little out-of-the-way. I recommend it highly.

Definitely Pamela's crepe pancakes for breakfast, Primanti's in the Strip for lunch (wash it down with an Iron City and you have one of the Ur-Pittsburgh food experienced covered). For dinner, I'd recommend Bona Terra, Dish on the South Side, Vivo in Bellevue, Kaya in the Strip (Eleven is good too), Mallorca/Ibiza, Le Pommier, Ma Provence, or Bigelow Grill. Have fun in the Burgh!

Do you recommend Fat Heads over Primanti Brothers as a first time visitor?

Fatheads food is better....but Primanti's is a Pittsburgh thing...if you like abrupt service, with food that looks thrown together
