Can anyone recommend a serious CHinese restaurant -- region not important -- in the Livermore-Pleasanton vicinity?

Haven't tried any of them, but the ones mentioned most often are Tri-Valley Seafood in Pleasanton and Pearl Garden in San Ramon. Koi is opening a branch in Dublin.

I personally liked Pearl Garden but didn't like Tri Valley. I'd categorize them as perhaps at the level of San Francisco Chinatown food as to quality, i.e., authentic but not as good as the stuff you'd find in Millbrae, Milpitas, Cupertino etc.

Hey, I opened up your post with great anticipation of hearing about some never reported Chinese restaurant. Ah well, thanks for the personal touch.

I second Pearl Garden in San Ramon. Good place. I haven't been to Tri-Valley in Pleasanton but 1) I've been to their other restaurant in Concord on Willow Pass and it's really good and 2) friends who are very knowledgeable (and particular) about Chinese food like the Pleasanton place. Another good one that is fairly new is Yu-Yu in Dublin. It's on Amador Valley Blvd. If you are open to other Asian places: Vietnamese: Sai's in Livermore. Thai: Little Home in Pleasanton. Japanese: E-Sushi in Dublin and itto in San Ramon. Singaporean: Singapore Old Town Cafe in Dublin. Ramen: Osaka Ramen just opened this week in Dublin in the Ulfert's Center. We like it.

Three Brothers from China in San Ramon is excellent.
