Client dinner after Red's game

  • 5

Looking for suggestions for a nice restaurant for an after-game dinner near Cinergy Field for some very important clients. Something with great atmosphere, a nice view of the city and exquisite deserts.

Any suggestions?

  1. First, it's Great American Ballpark. Second, day game or night game?

The Celestial, The Waterfront, and Prima Vista are all excellent restaurants with striking views of the city. All have good desserts. However, they may be a bit upscale for après ballgame.

    2. I think your problem is going to be finding a good restaurant that's open after a ballgame, someplace that serves past 10 p.m. No view of the city, but Jeff Ruby's Tropicana at Newport on the Levee is close by. The atmosphere is lively and upscale, it's popular after the game with ballplayers, and the food is good. Open till 1 a.m. on weeknights and 2 a.m. on weekends.

The Waterfront (another Jeff Ruby joint) disappointed me the last time I was there (a steakhouse ought to be able to cook a steak the way I order it). I haven't been there, but the Celestial gets good reviews. It only serves till 9:30 on weeknights, 10:30 on weekends.

Also: Jean-Robert at Pigall's, open till 10 on weeknights and 10:30 weekends. If your party's big enough they might accommodate you later. This is probably the best restaurant in town, but if you haven't been, check out their menu online. Might be a little too pretentious.
