Intimate Wedding Dinner 40p...
any ideas on a small restaurant we could take over, or a place that has a private dining room that fits that many? we don't want to rent a space and have it catered... Cozy and intimate is what we are looking for.

I recently went to a lovely small wedding at Savoy in Soho. The restaurant customized a gorgeous menu according to the couple's wishes and gave them the exclusive use of the upstairs room with a fireplace. Absolutely lovely and the food was excellent. The bride (a former food stylist) was thrilled and said the chef and staff were wonderful from beginning to end.

Gascogne, on 8th Av., b/t 17th & 18th Sts., is a cozy, charming French bistro with excellent food. They do private parties and, acc. to their website, if you take over the entire restaurant, they can accommodate up to 50 people.

we had about 40 at the Inn at Irving Place - in the Lady Mendl Tea salon - late October. It was definitely cozy - great food, great service - private cocktails downstairs at Cibar.
Definitely worth a look.

The Boathouse in Central Park has a lovely private room and also kind of an alcove above the main restaurant. You also might try Beppe on 22nd which has a nice upstairs room. You could take over the upstairs at Osteria Al Doge, which would hold about 40 but you still would have the view of downstairs.
