Baklava on Columbia Street

--.Just wanted to share a recent experience at Mazat on Columbia...
After a miserable work Monday, I stopped by Mazat on Columbia for a little dinner. I ordered my favorite, the Alexandria grilled whole fish---freaking great as usual. I wasn't expecting such a finale. PLEASE request Gamal's baklava. His mother's Egyptian recipe called for a filling of pistachios with a homemade sugar syrup--no honey. The last time I had "very good" baklava was in Turkey 2 years ago...Gamal's ROCKED this. SO good.

  1. Where is Mazat? Columbia and what? Can't wait to try it. I'm a crazy baklava addict--best in the city I ever had was at Thessalikon in Astoria (I grew up in Sunnyside) but now that I live in Bklyn I haven't found baklava as good as that.

Mazzat is at 208 Columbia St., between Sackett and Union.
