A bartender recommended that I try Rugnetta next time I visit New York instead of Babbo. I just can't seem to find it anywhere on the net. I'm wondering if it may be spelled wrong? If it doesn't exist- any thoughts on another option for outstanding Italian? Thanks!

Could you mean Rughetta on 85th and 1st?

I would never recommend Rughetta as an alternative to Babbo, but for a comfy neighborhood Italian joint on a quiet street (with a good pub across the stree; Ryan's Daughter) and decent homemade pasta, then Rughetta is worthwhile.

I love Rughetta. I try not to make a habit of going there so I can try other places, but it keeps calling me back.. It's so underrated, which I like, because I'd rather not compete for tables.

Yes I agree with the others, they are completely different. The restaurant is wonderfully consistent and their grilled fish specials are always extremely fresh and well prepared. The pastas are also always very good. However, it is a neighborhood italian restaurant and while it is charming and great food, it is not in the same style as Babbo.
