The best of Portland?

I'm going to Portland for a trip at the end of June and will be spending time near the Oregon Convention Center. What are the best restaurants in that vicinity? Or, more hopefully, the cheapest and best? What are some restaurants in the rest of the city that I simply must visit?

    Check out Nicholas (middle eastern) near the convention center. Also, you can walk up Burnside to the Farm, Doug Fir, and Rocket, all within a stroll from the CC.

      And Le Pigeon, Simpatica, Biwa, and L'Astra. Also the Max (Light Rail) is a good choice.

      I think we've talked about this before--the convention center neighoborhood isn't exactly a culinary hotbed. Here's the previous thread: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/33378...

      One significant addition to the general area is Biwa, which has fabulous japanese food. While it's not terribly expensive, I wouldn't say that it's cheap, either.
