Weezie's burger..YUM!
to all you burger hounds out there (and there are many of you I'm sure..) here is a heads up regarding a really, really good burger. I think there has been a few mentions in the past, but I wanted to add my hearty support...Weezie's is a small "bistro" at the corner of King and Power..nice space, small menu.
Burger comes with double smoked bacon, cheddar and lovely frites - 13.00. It's quite large and exceptionally juicy (two napkins used during eating..) I was going to share it with my hubby, but after one bite...no way was I giving it up. I asked for it cooked med-rare and while there was no pink in the center, it was still very moist. Hubby was not too sad about my lack of sharing, as he was devouring an amazing lamb-stew shepherd's pie - which he said was one of the best meals he had enjoyed in quite some time.
2 pints, one glass merlot, shared app (fish cakes) and 2 mains - around 68.00 before tip...good value we thought
Service was friendly, absolutely no attitude...maybe a little dopey (but I will take that over snotty any day).
This will definitely be our go-to spot for a great burger and a glass of wine when we don't want to do our own cooking!

Yes, welcome to the worst kept secret in Corktown. The burgers get you in the door, her lovely comfort food keeps you coming back. It's the perfect place for a romantic yet inexpensive date. My personal favourite burger in the city.

re: Googs
I finally got to Weezie's this weekend, and, although the service is friendly and the space is cute, feel it's been over-hyped on this board. I never order a burger outside of the house, but obviously made an exception based on the reviews here. To be honest, it was no hell. The bun was far too large for the patty, the bacon was soggy and unrecognizable between bites, and the cheese didn't add much to the overall taste or texture. Also, the accompanying frites are tiny potato pieces and not too crisp. I did enjoy the salt cod cakes to start, although I found the price point a bit high for what you're getting. Did I enjoy myself? Yes! Would I return? Yes, if I were in the neighbourhood or on a date. I'm not trying to rip this place apart, here. My company enjoyed their meal thoroughly, as well as the wine selection. I just see this place recommended all of the time, similar to Rosebud, and wouldn't even put it in the same category. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen?

I have never personally experienced a disappointing burger nor an off night at Weezie’s. I’ve eaten my way through the menu many times ordering my regular loves plus foods I’ve never had before because I trust her so. I’ve always found the pricing beyond reasonable especially in regards to the wine list. In fact, your post is the first one I can recall that had anything negative to say about the place. None of this discounts your experience there. The perfect burger, as we’ve all witnessed, is as individual as the person eating it. As you seem, judging by your posts, to enjoy Rosebud above all others I assume it’s your local. It seems very special to you. I don’t believe Weezie’s is attempting to be in the same category as Rosebud or anyone other than itself. For that I’m grateful to Constance and Co. Weezie’s is very special to me.

re: Googs
Most prepared meat is an individual thing, which is why I usually only cook it myself. If there had been any negativity about Weezie's on the board, I probably would never have posted. I just thought I'd get my take out there, for those who see it praised here so often. If I had anything like it in my neighbourhood, I'd likely be a regular.
BTW...I live up near Aoyama, so geography plays a very little role in my appreciation for Rosebud.
