Need Help Finding Meyer Lemons

CindyJ May 5, 2007 06:13 AM

I want to preserve some Meyer lemons for a Moroccan chicken dish, but have no idea where to find them. Is there anywhere in the Chester County/northern Delaware area that carries them? Also, can regular lemons be substituted?

Trader Joe's usually has them, if you have one nearby. You can definitely use regular lemons. I preserve regular lemons all the time, and most recipes I have seen in Moroccan cookbooks don't call for meyer lemons. It is more important to use organic lemons since you will be eating the peel.

Thanks! There's a Trader Joe's not far from here in north Wilmington.

I have seen them in a few Whole Foods and also in the organic section at Wegmans, so if you have those near you I'd give it a shot.

I looked for them at Wegman's on Saturday -- no luck.

not the right season for meyer lemons. Generally in markets around mid winter to early spring.
