Yes, TJs has premade pesto in jars and fresh but I don't think either of them is that good. Check the ingredients, but I believe both pestos use canola oil and walnuts, which are not traditional and, in the case of canola oil, don't do anything to add flavor.
When I need pre-made pesto I go to Lucca Ravioli on Valencia & 22nd. Their pesto is pretty good, and you can "doctor" it up if you want. They're not open on Sundays so you should go today before 6 p.m.

I think TJ's is as good as any commercial pesto...and it comes in a small container. Less waste. Of course, you must doctor any commercial pesto to make it taste good.

If you are forced to purchase pre-made pesto, like the other hounds have said, look at the ingredients. The biggest mistake made in these pestos is the addition of sugar. If you find that or fruitcrose or whatever, don't buy it, as there is nothing you can do to 'save' it.

I've had a few jar pestos that were decent. They were all made in Liguria and contained only the ingredients I'd use to make it fresh: basil, olive oil, reggiano and/or sardo cheese, pine nuts, garlic, salt.
AG Ferrari sells one.

I like Safeway Select's pre-made pesto (it comes refrigerated). I just tried Classico's jarred pesto, and it is ridiculously oily. I shall never stray again.

I think TJ's pesto is aweful, they add vinegar which makes it not good imho.
