Would NYC foodies go to Little Italy

I live in the area and would love to have a great (non-italian/touristy) restaurant on my block-Grand St. I wonder if a great wine and food destination opened in the area it would suffer because of its surroundings. Nolita and Soho are right around the corner but nothing between Kenmare and Canal.

  1. I decided some time ago that I prefer Skyway, but you can definitely get a decent meal at Nyonya, Grand between Mott and Mulberry. Great? Perhaps not.

Tried Nyonya and not bad but yes not great. It would be great to have a real qualified chef using seasonal ingredients with a great wine program in the neighborhood. A creative modern place.
