Oakville Grocery has it for mail order, and may have it in their stores. I don't know if they have opened their San Francisco store yet (in the Cannery).

You can buy the "Himalania Pink Salt" at Rainbow for sure. I have also seen the same Pink Salt at Berkeley Bowl about a year ago. However, if you're looking for the "Original Himalayan Crystal Salt", then I have not seen it at Rainbow nor at Berkeley Bowl. I do not know if chemically/structurally they're the same thing. If you know the differences (or lack of difference) please let me know.

I have used 3 different brands, including the "Original" for homecooking purpose only and has yet to tell any differences.

I've seen it at Andronico's, Sur La Table and Draeger's.
Good stuff - especially to sprinkle on salads and crostini.

Good luck!

the thing is that salt is salt in terms of taste..it is an element and does not change its composition in the process of cooking...if you blind taste all the salts of the world..say a teaspoon in a glass of water...you wil not detect any difrence...the colors of salt are from trace minerals.

but the rub is that texture and mouth feel can change the way the dish itself is approached...so whats the deal? dont cook with fancy salt..just like not cooking with extra virgin olive oil as it no longer is EVO once heated..once your fancy crystals disolve it is just salt...
