Joes is soooo good their coffee is like crack. Other than the one above there is a location at waverly and 6th Ave, and one on 13th btween 5 and 6. But I agree they are not the most relaxing places.

Jack on 10th and 7th and a cute little spot, Doma on perry is also nice.

I love palacinka for crepes, but i wouldn't call it a cafe.

Try Lovely Day on Elizabeth between Prince and Spring. They serve Segafredo and you can sit for hours without anyone bothering you.

I love Caffe Falai on Lafayette between Prince and Spring. They bring you foccacia and olive oil (free!) when you sit down, and (in my experience) they don't mind you sitting for a while in the airy, sunny room with a latte. The pastries are also wonderful.

88 Orchard is a great spot for relaxing if you're willing to cross Delancy from Nolita. Soho Park is a nice spot if you time it right but I'm not sure how their beans are.

I'm not much of a coffee drinker but Think Coffee on Mercer might fit the bill.

I think that place is awful and overpriced.

If you want an outstanding capuccino - than Joe's corner inside the Alessi store on Greene St. is absolutely unbeatable. It's not a very relaxing place to sit though, but you technically could sit.

Cafe Cafe on Greene is more relaxing and decent coffee.
