Whole Foods now has fresh pizza!

I recently discovered that Whole Foods in Georgetown and in Tenleytown have put in some kind of pizza oven and have started shelling out pretty good pizza at $3 a piece!

The first one I tried had a nice taste but a large area of just crust, no cheese. So yesterday I tried the 4 cheese and loved it. For my taste it can be perfect for takeout with some chili flakes or some anchovies added at home.

If you buy more than 2 slices the price goes down to $2.50.

They also have Caprese, Grilled vegetables, Pepperoni and a Bacon & scrambled egg "breakfast pizza" that I would stay away from...

The pizza at the Fair Lakes location has vastly improved since their opening. Perhaps it took some time to perfect the dough and season the oven. Just make sure that the slice you want LOOKS fresh before you order!

My faves are the Vegan Pizza (delicious sauteed/ grilled veggie mix of sundried tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, artichoke, etc.) and the Spinach Ricotta & Tomato. If you're a sauce addict like me, ask for some on the side...free of charge.

The Whole Foods in Alexandria on Duke Street has a rather large prepared foods section and a pizza bar, serving a number of different types of pizzas. You can buy them by the slice or a whole pie.

In my opinion, it looks pretty good but isn't. When I'm in Fair Lakes and in the mood for pizza, I can't pass up Tony's.
