Where to find in TO - Cataplana and/or Tajine

Snarf May 2, 2007 02:14 PM

Does anyone know where to buy a cataplana pan (looks like a shallow lidded wok) or a tajine dish (earthenware shallow dish with a lid like Madonna's bra in the 80's). Much appreciated!

You can find Le Creuset Tangines at the Bay, Home Outfitters, or William Sonoma.

Boujadi, a North African restaurant on Eglinton just east of the Allen, serves tajines and also sells the traditional derving pieces.

Cook's place on the Danforth has tanjines. I've never seen a cataplana pan here - really regret not getting one while we were in Portugal BUT a search online said you could use any pot with a tight fitting lid and that's what we've been doing ever since. Works in a pinch.
