Vegas Bars Serving Real Drinks

  • 8

In New York you have the Pegu Club and in San Francisco you have Bourbon & Branch. Does Las Vegas have any watering holes on the Strip that take cocktails as seriously? The type of establishment I am thinking of uses fresh squeezed juices and no pre-made mixes when making its cocktails. Any suggestions amidst the ubiquitous watered down drinks and frozen margaritas?

  1. McCormick & Schmick on Paradise; Triple George/Sidebar downtown.

    1. I can't help you with standalone bars, but have some ideas about bars within restaurants on the Strip, and one off the Strip. Nobhill (MGM) has some interesting cocktails including a highly regarded mojito with ginger, I think. I don't like mojitos, they always taste like toothpaste to me, but my husband had it and liked it a lot. The signature drink at Nobhill is a Cable Car, I had that, delicious. Also the bar at Craftsteak (MGM) is a very serious bar. Can't speak to fruit juices because I usually get a Bombay martini or a bourbon of some sort. I've seen the bartender at Bouchon (Venezia Tower) squeezing juices for drinks. I'd also highly recommend the bar at Rosemary's although it's not on or near the Strip. A lot of thought goes into their drinks.

      1. Border Grill at the Mandalay Bay used to make killer margaritas with fresh juices. Haven't been in a while, but worth a shot. Craftseak and Delmonico have excellent bars. I had an amazing cocktail at Aureoule a few months back, it had campari, champagne, grapefruit juice... whatever was in it, just know it was awesome!

        1. Wow, this is a great thread to revive.

I just arrived in Vegas and am dying to find a place (restuarant or bar) that makes drinks well. I'm talking the old style coctails, like a Sidecar.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind paying a lot for drinks if they are THAT good.

The Cable Car at Nobhill was awesome! Not sure if that's what you meant, but this is the place for cocktails. They're expensive(around$12) but in Vegas, who cares? Nobhill's cocktail menu:

            2. try a martini at petrossian bar at bellagio. ask for blue cheese stuffed olives.

I went into some detail about the drinks at Nobhill, which imho are by far the best mixed drinks anywhere!
