Anyone who has been to Bermuda knows that Barritt's is the key ingredient to a good Dark and Stormy. Anything else just tastes watery. Even the high end "homemade" ginger beers like at Pegu Club, etc. don't have the right bite.

Anyone know where I can track some down in Manhattan?

I'm a big Barrit's fan as well. But AJ Stephen's is pretty good --sold in some Pathmark's - and Stewarts makes very good ginger beer.

The Chelsea Market Basket sells Fentimans which is great. I've not been to Bermuda nor have I tasted Barritt's, but I suggest giving the Fentimans a try.

B-Flat in Tribeca makes a killer dark and stormy which has much bite as those which I've had in Bermuda. I am pretty sure that they don't make their own ginger beer, but use a very specific kind. The rum they use is also something special.

I am actually the great-granddaughter of John Barritt, founder of Barritt Ginger Beer Company (my second and third cousins in Bermuda now run the company). I've only ever had it on the island, but would love to know where to purchase it in NYC.

I am big fan of the dark and stormy and I have been somewhat stymied on getting the right ginger beer. My fave is called Blenheims - had it at the Great Jones Cafe. Believe it or not, the best I have found is Goya. It's cheap and pretty easy to find in the Mexican aisle or soda dept of supermarkets.
