Cheap Eats at Rittenhouse Square

Hi Everyone,

I just started a new job, and wanted to know some of the cheap eat spots around here. I'm not picky, so anything at a reasonable price will do... I am a Toronto chownound new to the Philadelphia area, so any help would be appreciated.

Good sushi lunch specials at Shiroi Hana on 15th. You can get a lot of sushi for like $12. Sometimes Miel Patisserie (on 17th) has pre-made sandwiches which are great to take into the park for an alfresco lunch (and they're always good for a dessert place).

Also take a walk down Sansom between 15th and 20th or so for lots of little cheap-ish places- Su Xing, Giwa, the falafel place, etc etc.

Agree with all the other posters... might I also add:
Primo Hoagies (Chestnut btwn 20th and 21st)
Vic Sushi (Sansom btwn 20th and 21st...the shrimp tempura coconut mango roll is the ultimate indulgance...there are a million sushi places to choose from though if you're not into the shrimp tempura coconut mango thing
Dolce Carini for pizza (chestnut btwn 19th and 20th)
Giwa for Korean (Sansom btwn 16th and 17th)...Miran on Chestnut btwn 20th and 21st also has some decent lunch specials last time I checked.

Disagree - for better falafel try Pita Pocket or Mama's. Hate the Pad Thai Shack, a mockery of Thai food, but there is no cheap Thai in cc.

Love Su Xing House for shockingly cheap vegetarian chinese
Kami Sushi for reasonable and excellent sushi to go
New Samosa for $5 buffet lunch
Tokyo Lunchbox for cheap udon Soups
          Four Seasons for quality buffet
Agree with Primo Hoagies, great, but order in advance
          Reading Terminal Market
El Fuego for out of this world Mexican tacos, burritos, etc.
For sit down lunches under $12 (not CHEAP but reasonable) love Pietro's, Good Dog, Nodding Head, Devil's Alley, El Vez for the 12.95 lunch special and Square on Square

Tampopo - 21st street btw Sansom / Chestnut. Fast-informal Korean food.

Stroll down 18th between Chestnut & Walnut and you'll find some good eating. My favorite is La Cigale - little French place with terriffic sandwiches - try the mozzarella, tomato, basil and proscuitto. Also try Pietro's on Walnut and DiBruno Bros. on Chestnut. Sue's, on 18th, has good fruit for dessert.
