Historically and by reputation (sadly on a downhill slope for both) I've always loved L'Orso 80 and La Carbonara for their antipasti......however having had disappointing meals at both, its time to expand my horizons. Where can fellow Chowhounds recommend for the BEST Antipasto Misto in Rome. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

  1. The Obika buffet, of course. I also couldn't get enough of the antipasto at La Campana. Artichokes, sauteed rabe, anchovies, vinegared onions, eggplant ... . No cheese or meat on the La Campana table though.

    1. The whole concept of the antipasto buffet is in decline. La Piazzetta, near via Cavour, however, still has a nice one and certainly gives an impression of freshness, which most don't.

I wonder why it's in decline? I dont really remember it from our first visits to Rome 20-30 years ago - at least in the sense of self service - there were as now places that exhibited already prepared antipasti to tempt you- but it wasnt a buffet format. The last time we went to both Nerone and La Campana they were offering buffet though.
