Looking for nice place for drinks and light food after theater. And also for best chinese in chinatown. In terms of drinks and food...maybe tapas, or a place with good appittiers.

  1. In the Theater District area, Tintol, on 46th St., b/t 6th & 7th Avs., serves Portuguese and Spanish tapas. I've not been, but Hounds who have say the food's good.

    1. When you say best Chinese you need to be more specific. The best Shanghaiese restaurant isn't not the same as the best Cantonese restaurants and there is also best Chinese noodles or dim sum places.

      1. Best way to start a food fight on this board is to ask for the single best Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Part of the problem is that there are so many restaurants--probably between 200 and 300-- and nobody's been to all of them. Then there are so many different regional cuisines and categories--traditional Cantonese, Hong Kong style seafood, noodle houses, dumpling houses, Shanghai style, dim sum, etc. etc. I'd say for traditional Cantonese, maybe Cantoon Garden on Elizabeth; for a little more upscale seafood, East Ocean on Bayard; for soup noodles, Wing Huang on Lafayette or Roasted Delights on Catherine; for Cantonese noodles and comfort food, Great N.Y. Noodletown on Bowery; for dim sum, Jing Fong on Elizabeth or Golden Bridge on Bowery; for dumplings, Prosperity Dumpling on Eldridge. These are just my personal choices and I might change my mind in the next 30 minutes. Check the board and you'll see all kinds of opinions on what's best in Chinatown.
