North restaurant in London, Ontario
Any reviews of this place? I have heard it is pretty good.
I went to North about a week ago, and it was terrible. I've been working in the food service industry for over ten years now, so I maybe be overly critical, but I really don't think so. This was my experience: I ordered the caesar salad to start and literally all I could taste was mustard. As my main I ordered a fire roasted chicken and wild mushroom pizza, the chicken had no seasoning whatsoever and it was dry, there was supposed to be (portabellos, shitake, and button mushrooms), and there was only questionable button mushrooms. Everyone else at the table also did not enjoy their meals, my cousin who really doesn't expect much from food ordered a burger and there was a giant chunk of fat in the burger, she sent it back and was totally turned off after that. Our server was very sweet, but I had to ask her twice for water refills, and she didn't offer me another glass of wine. I was so looking forward to this visit and I definitely won't be back.
atmosphere is very nice. The food however is not. My capri pizza was ok, but i almost chocked on an olive pit that the chef forgot to remove! my wife couldn't finish her chicken rolade, and my daughter's burger was very fatty. Other people in our company however liked their food, so it probably varies. But i definitely won't repeat it or recommend the place.
I have been to North several times. In general the food is expensive and mediocre at best. The only item I would order here is the burger, which is better than most. The atmosphere is very nice, though. I recommend it as a place to stop by for a drink, before proceeding elsewhere for dinner.
We went there once when I was pregnant and off chicken. I asked if I could have the chicken pizza with everything but the chicken and was told NO. I think that says a lot about the way that they do their prep. Pizza is NOT made to order. I don't want to think how long it sat premade. We were not very impressed and have not been back.
