baltimore special lunch
My mother's office always goes out to lunch for special occasions & have recently been on a roll on my recommendations. The biggest hit was Gertrudes - the menu & setting were perfect. Now I am stumped, it seems most places I think of do not serve lunch.
The best i can do this time is the Brass Elephant, but I am little worried it will be musty & stuffy (literally & figuratively). Black Olive is a thought, but is the setting special? Is Brightons good food?
The restrictions are - no Indian. Good crabcakes are necessary. Doesnt have to be Baltimore proper, Harford or Howard would be OK...
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

No ingenious suggestions here, but in answer to your question the Black Olive is great for lunch. I was there last week and had an absolutely terrific meal (octopus salad was delicious, rockfish special very good). Based on my experience I sent a friend with visiting in-laws there a few days later and he came back raving. As for ambiance, I thought it was very nice. The exposed brick was attractive, and the windows in front let in much of the afternoon sunlight, making it a bright and shiney experience all around. I would like to try it at night though, I imagine it could be quite romantic, if sat at the right table.
