The Waterfront Ale House is right there, and Sahara's is pretty good Turkish a few blocks south.

I agree with the Ethos rec. On 3rd, b/t 33rd & 34th, it's our favorite Greek spot. Very good food and a pleasant taverna-style setting.

Darna, on 2nd, b/t 34th & 35th, serves very tasty Moroccan cuisine. The decor gives the place an exotic feel.

Cosette, on 33rd, b/t 3rd & Lex, is a teensy, charming French bistro serving well-prepared classic dishes.

Christina's on 32nd and 2nd. A great neighborhood restaurant with simple yet reliable Italian. The staff is very friendly there.

Waterfront Ale house. Get the burger and the pulled pork sandwich.
Copolas for Italian on 28th and 3rd

I definitely agree on Waterfront, esp. their pulled pork but strongly disagree with Coppolas. I find it barely adequate Italian that the sauce tastes like its from a jar. If i do recall correctly, they do have a pretty good pizza though.

I'm with ESNY re: Coppola's. Avoid like the proverbial plague. The food is awful!

I second the waterfront ale house, great food and good beer selection - very casual pub-type atmosphere.

Benjamin on 33rd & 2nd- very reasonably priced and neighborhood kind of place. Mostly an "american" place- they pretty much serve all sorts of things- salads, burgers, wraps, and entrees. Always have interesting specials- especially the fish. I always think this place has better food than you would expect. They also have a really well-priced early bird if you are trying to make an early evening movie.

For good italian in the neighborhood, on 34th Tratoria Alba is excellent.
