Reherasal Dinner in Pasadena for 25 guests

I am looking for an inexpensive place to host a reherasal dinner on a friday night this summer. I would like to spend less than $35 (including tip and a drink). Since its Friday night and traffic is horrible, we would like to eat near our venue on Union and Los Robles.

Also, we are trying to avoid Chinese food because we are having Dim Sum on Sunday.

Any ideas?

Thanks. I thought this place was more expensive.

    2. Mijares Mexican restaurant is nearby (California and Pasadena - about 5-7 minutes away) and they have a private room you could use.
You have a McCormick & Schmicks right there as well as a CPK, but...

I will check this out too. Thanks.

I like Mijares with my 3-year-old, but I wouldn't do it for a rehearsal their "private room" is really lackluster.

Even though I don't like their food at all, El Cholo could put your group at the outdoor area, which would be nice...

I would choose Cafe Bizou or Song...

        2. 1. Cafe Bizou' (Cal-French Bistro)*Top Pick. Great food, great value.
          2. Mi Piace (italian)
          3. El Cholo
          4. Saladang Song (Thai)
          5. Il Fornaio
          6. Holly Street Bar & Grill
          7. Bucca Di Beppo

*Plenty of choices in Old Town Pas.....Good Luck!

I heard Bizou requires a party of 45 for a private room. Has anyone had a large party there? I think it may be too loud to eat in the main room.

          2. My sister did her rehearsal dinner at Saladang Song on a Friday night last June and it was very nice. Reasonably priced too.

Thanks for the recs. Unfortunately we are trying to stay away from Asian foods since we are doing that on Sunday. Has anyone been to Crepe Vine?

              1. re: sugarpie

I recently went to Crepe Vine for the first time. It is a very small restaurant, in my opinion. I would not want to host a rehearsal dinner there. I think a more spacious venue would be better.

how about the rococo room or cafe santorini? they seem to specialize in private parties. also bistro 45, parkway grill, il fornaio, smittys and madelines have private rooms. if you look up pasadena and select private rooms in the parameters of your search on you'll be able to find many restaurants that have private rooms. that's is if you're looking for a private room.

                  1. re: trolley

thanks for the tip. I will search on zagat. Do I have to pay for that?

                    1. re: sugarpie

no i think you just have to register but you don't have to pay. if want to see their online reviews of restaurants then I believe you have to pay. just go check it out.

Sorry for the delayed post but I thought I would let you all know that after many phone calls and visits we decided to go with Xiomara. It worked out really well. We had a 3 course prix fixe dinner with 4 options per course for $28 dollars/person (tip and tax not included). They let us keep the center pieces too! The food was very good for the price point. No Complaints.
