I'll be passing thru NJ in late May, and want to get at least one meal at a classic Jersey Diner. Doesn't have to be slap next to I-95 - I'll drive a bit. Help out a Jacksonville hound.

Please sent me your picks.

Thanks!

Terrific link. BTW, if any of you guys are heading south thru Jax, post on the Florida board and I'll get you pointed at some not-to-be-missed spots for lunch/BBQ. All ez driving from I-95.

Mastoris Diner, on Route 130 in Bordentown, is really great. It might not be classic in outward appearance since it has grown to a massive size, but at its heart it is a classic NJ diner, albeit one that serves arrugala salads with balsamic vinaigrette! There is a counter section, and the usual diner menu choices are available, but there is also a wealth of more upscale offererings that are usually well prepared. The place is huge, with several rooms--each with a different decor.

(Please note that some who recommend it will undoubtedly refer to it as "Mastori's", but since the family's name is Greek, and not Italian, the name is Mastoris--without an apostrophe.)
