E.Village mexican: Downtown Bakery II vs. Puebla

josefr Apr 30, 2007 09:17 AM

Huge fan of Puebla - both their tacos and their breakfasts. Best chilaquiles I've had on the east coast (and so spicy). We almost walked into Downtown Bakery II just down the street as we were a bit disoriented. I want to try that place now too.

Are they related? Which one is better?

I'm not sure if they're related, but they have exactly the same menu (down to the order of dishes presented). Seriously. Do what I did once and go to one, then the other. Grab a take-out menu at each one and compare.

I like the mole poblano better at Downtown Bakery. Their chicken with mole is delicious. Their carne enchilada tacos are tasty too (and appropriately spicy).

I remember enjoying the carnitas tacos at Puebla as well.

I just found this article, which explains that they are related. But, it's.. complicated.
