River Gods Friday Night?

Anyone know what the scene is like there on Friday nights? I have a friend coming into town, wanted to take her there for dinner, was wondering how the music/people are as I planned on hanging out there after dinner too.

It'll be busy for sure. Music/DJs vary nightly so you may want to call ahead to find out what style they might be spinning if you're worried that music could be a problem. I usually love whatever they're spinning. It's a great place to hang out and the food is surprisingly good. It's worth waiting for a table so you can sit and chill for a while.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I love River Gods & plan to bring a friend from out of town there on Friday evening - she'll love it. Just wasn't sure if Friday's were as hoppin as Saturdays are!

Friday nights are pretty crowded - get there before 7 or after 9 if you don't want to wait for a table. Think they serve dinner till 10 or 11 and most people end up snagging a table, eating dinner, and then staying afterwards. Scene is pretty lively with loud(ish) music and rotating djs.

I was actually there a week ago Friday night, about 7:30, and it was hopping. My party kind of diversified the place--3 adults and a 10 year old--since it was mostly grad student-looking folks (even the bouncer was reading an economics text).
About 45 min-an hour wait to be seated, which is kind of long, but they are realistic about the time and you can either drink at the bar (which we didn't, with a kid) or walk around the area, which we did. The music is loud but fun; DJ spun remixed 70's R+B and then some unremarkable but boppy Eurodisco stuff.

The crowd is friendly and the waitstaff very nice, esp to us on a night when everyone (including us) were ordering burgers and fries. It did take quite awhile for our order to come up as we were behind a table of 6 who'd ordered the same thing, but the waitress comped us an app and the atmosphere was great, so we didn't mind.

All in all, a good hangout choice if you're not in a hurry and don't mind being crowded a bit. The burgers are really, really terrific!
