late night san antonio to new braunfels

our plane gets into san antonion at 10pm, figure by the time we get our car rental, it will be 10:30 and then we have to drive to new braunfels. Anything open late in san antonio or on the way to new braunfels? Would be interested in bbq, mexican...but at that hour, will take anything good.

  1. Well the only things I know open late at that time on your way to New Braunfels are Denny's at I-35 at Topperwein,Jim's at I-35 and O'Conner, the McDonald's and Denny's in Schertz at I-35 and FM3009,maybe Taco Cabana in Schertz,on FM3009 across from the H.E.B. Grocery Store. There is TGIFriday's in the Olympia Forum Shopping Center
at I-35 and Agora Parkway, they are open till I think one or two in the morning.
There is a IHOP in the Olympia Forum, and one in New Braunfels. Also there is a Las Palapas also in the Forum.I think it's open 24 hours. Probably not much help I know.

    1. There are other options besides chains, if you're willing to drive a bit out of your way. San Antonio favorites Mi Tierra and the Pig Stand are open 24 hours a day.

HollyDolly, thanks for the reply and all the locations but I'm really looking for spots like Mi Tierra and Pig Stand. It would take an awful lot for me to set foot in a TGIFs.

A lot of visitors come to nyc eat and at TGIFs...this is hard for me to understand as a) nyc is arguably one of the culinary epicenters of the universe and b) great, great food can be had for about 1/3 (or less) than TGIF.

Not sure if this is still current:

San Antonio's "three little pigs" (1508 Broadway, 801 S. Presa and 3054 Rigsby) continue the proud Pig Stand tradition of serving tasty American staples, such as hamburgers, chicken-fried steak, fried shrimp, chopped steak, club sandwiches, fried chicken, malts, shakes and banana splits (all of those tasty favorites you grew up with) in settings that make you feel you've stepped back in time.

I think that the Pig Stands have all closed, no? Let me know as I would love to eat there after a so long a pause. Their blt still ranks high in my memory.

What a horrible thought. Your post frightened me, avi, and motivated me to call around. The South Presa and Rigsby locations of the Pig Stand are no more. However, I reached someone at the Broadway location this afternoon. That Pig Stand is open for business!

A note about hours of operation: These days they’re not always open, but they do offer late-night dining. From Sunday-Thursday, they're open until midnight; on Friday and Saturday, you can still "pig out" 24 hours a day.
