Cooking Classes in Shanghai

I will be in Shanghai for three weeks at a language program. I get the impresion that I will have a fair bit of free time and would love to take a few cooking classes, see the markets etc. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a pretty high skill level for a home cook, will be attending a CIA "boot camp" class this summer and am pretty well read about world cuisine. So, anyone have any suggestions, must see markets, must eat places?

Thanks

    1. I have taken a grand total of 1 class with these guys:

It wasn't bad, 3 japanese housewives and me, held in mandarin, the owner (very pleasant woman who's name I forget) was there to translate as my mandarin was not up to the task. We made a shanghaiese themed meal: crystal cooked shrimp, soybeans in pod marinated in wine, and a fried pork and pepper dish. I worked as a cook and am a competent homecook and the instruction here was well done, the chef was competent and was receptive to questions. Price wasn't ridiculous and we took the extra food home. If you find anything better please post it.

              1. I'm actually in Hong Kong at the moment and Martha of Sherpa's cooking school has had to unexpectedly cancel classes. Does anyone have suggestions on an alternative? Other threads on the subject have either only turned up demonstrations or led to dead ends.

                Help!

                  1. I tried the flying chef:

great food and reasonable prices. The Chinese chef is very experience and cooked in Germany for more that 7 years..
