Reported yesterday in the Yountville Sun: Gordon's Restaurant on Washington Street is currently closed but is scheduled to reopen on May 15, the restaurant's 11th anniversary. Owner Sally Gordon said she recently lost the lease, but her friend and business partner Leslie Rudd (of Dean and Deluca, Oakville Grocery, etc) has acquired it to keep the Gordon's going.

The article also noted that dinner service will return to Gordon's sometime in the future, although no timeline was listed for that. Gordon's had offered rare dinner service for a brief period of time a few years ago. But according to the article, the town of Yountville had a water moratorium and required Gordon's to retrofit some toilets before allowing the restaurant to expand/continue dinner service, but the cost for the retrofit was cost prohibitive. Now that the moratorium has been lifted, the retrofit is not required.

I don't know if any of you other hounds got to eat there for dinner, but I had one fine dinner there and am very excited at the possiblity of another--hopefully soon!

Wonder if it will stay true to it's previous feel or if the Rudd empire will have any effect? Still, was the best breakfast place in Napa Valley in my opinion.

According to the Sun, Sally Gordon will continue to run Gordon's with her long-time manager Tim Scott. Plus all the staff is continuing on. During the closure they are either helping with some renovations in the cafe, or working at Dean and Deluca in St. Helena.

And yes, I agree that it is the best breakfast place in Napa. My concern is that the prices will start creeping up. We shall see.
