Mosco Pizza
Walking up Mosco St. towards Mott, an old building with a new balcony caught my eye. The doors were wide open and from the ground level one could obviously see that the interiors were completely renovated with sky lights. At first I thought someone had taken up residence but a small maroon flag with the name 'Mosco Pizza' caught my eye. Any CH'ers know anything about this?

I just got back, bottom line is that it is a good neighborhood pizza slice joint, not a destination spot or something to go out of your way for. I went with three friends, we regularly make group trips to DiFara,Totonno's and Patsy's in east harlem, so this is a tough group to please. Pizza was thin crust, nicely browned on the bottom with a narrow well browned edge(cornicione). Sauce was standard as was the cheese. No imported mozz or Grande, basic stuff. Pies come as 12 inch medium and 18 inch large. Oddly, we ordered a large and he cut it into 12 slices, like I have them do at my kids birthday parties. Slices are $2 and looked standard size. The place is entered on the ground floor and then up a flight of stairs to a small area on the second floor. At the top of the stairs is a counter and behind that are two electric bakers pride ovens. You order and sit at one of the five tables, capacity is pretty small. There is a narrow metal counter along one wall with some stools. In the seating area are bags of flour and other items. It is spartan though they did hang some paintings and a couple of fancy light fixtures. The area is pizza deprived as other then Lombardi's there is nothing else around so I expect they will do well. The State and Federal Court Houses are right there so business should be brisk. All in all a welcome addition to the area.
