Need Restaurant near 42nd and 7th for Pre-Theatre

My wife is actually just recovering from a broken leg and still has trouble walking more than a few blocks. My in laws are taking us out to dinner pre-theatre and I need to find a reasonable priced restaurant ($40 or less per person) very close to 42nd and 7th. I would normally go with a Carmine or Tony DiNapoli based on the cost parameters but both are booked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to stick with Italian, L'Allegria, on the corner of 44th & 9th, serves very good food. Service can be slow, so if you go, book early to give yourself plenty of time.

For Asian food, Ollie's has two locations in the Theater District: 42nd, just west of 9th, and 44th, b/t B'way & 8th.

    For American, Junior's is on 44th, b/t B'way & 8th.

I don't really know what kind of food or atmosphere you're looking for, but the surest bet I've found around there that both (a) avoids tourist overcrowding and (b) doesn't cost $100/person is BXL cafe, basically a Belgian pub/bar with the best french onion soup I have ever, ever had. Just be careful what you order: stick with French/Belgian dishes (aforementioned soup, Croque Monsieur, etc.), as they can't do a caesar salad to save their lives.
