Joined friends for the Dining out for lLife benefitting AIDS research last night at Fig. Very busy when we arrived for our 7:30 reservations. Food was wonderful. My appetizer of fried sweetbreads over leeks and mushrooms was great. Everyone else had the special, tuna sashimi topped with citrus and fennel. Paper thin slices of tuna beautifully presented. For dinner my duck breast over collard greens and blackeyed peas was perfect. It was topped with corn bread croutons which I'm defintely going to have figure out how to make, they retained a creamy cornbread flavor but were only about 1/4" square. The salmon a la nage was a nice poached filet with a wonderful broth accompanied by veggies. The special was a panfried halibut over asparagus and mushrooms. The fish was melt in your mouth tasty. All in all impeccable service, great food and a nice space (we were in a little alcove, but still was rather noisy). Definitely a new favorite.
