Sakura Sushi in Culver City

My wife and I had sushi here tonight, it was excellent. It was our first visit, we checked Chowhound for some current reviews, but weren't able to find anything very recent. We had (sushi) fresh salmon, yellowtail, salmon eggs, tuna, fatty tuna, albacore and fresh water eel. Super fresh, nice big cuts and great service from the sushi bar. We really enjoyed the spicy yellowtail roll, packed with tons of fresh cut yellowtail. We had 4 beers, some cucumber salad and quite a bit of sushi for @ $110, including tip. One observation: we showed up pretty early, around opening at 5:30, already lines were forming, and they were packed with a wait from the moment we sat down! Great place, great value and excellent sushi.

  1. Try the torchoned escolar sushi. topped with a little bit of miso paste and it's pretty good. 2 big pieces for $5.50.

    1. I eat at Sakura a couple of times a week and its always a very good experience. There are definately better sushi restaurants in LA but they are twice the price and half the portion. This is a great neighborhood sushi joint.
