We went to the Dogwood Cafe in Jamaica Plain last night. Hadn't been there in a few months and I was very happy to be back (a perfect place to go on a rainy night, as it is cozy and has lots of good beers). We ordered a Caesar salad and a pepperoni/mushroom pizza. The salad was very good, the pizza (brick oven with a cracker-like crust) was excellent. But the beer.......oh, the beer. They have Stovepipe Porter there. All I need to say is, if you like dark beers, Stovepipe Porter is one of the best around.

I want to get back to the Dogwood to try their mac and cheese at some point. Has anyone had it?

Funny, never had their mac and cheese. Actually, it's downright weird.

I might have a beer and a pie there tomorrow if my "new-child-so-he's-stuck-at-home-all-the-time" buddy can spare an hour.

Have to try the Stovepipe Porter, although it's hard for me to resist Anchor Steam on tap.

I gotta say, Stovepipe Porter is right up there, along with Hennepin and Celebrator, as one of my favorites. Definitely give it a try if you have a chance.

The only thing I don't like about the Dogwood is that unless you sit on the same side of the table with your dining partner (good if you're with S.O.; not good if you're with a buddy), only one of you can watch the Sox on TV. A minor thing, I know, but still a bit frustrating.

Hey now. Who's Stovepipe Porter? THE (ie. Otter Creek)? (that's about the only thing I've had on my profile for months) I'm kinda moving on to a more seasonal brew now that the temps are above 40 for once.

Where abouts is the Dogwood? Centre St.?

Yup, it's an Otter Creek porter. Very smooth, not bitter at all.

Dogwood is on Washington Street (just south of the bridge), across from Forest Hills T Stop.

Yeah, I go there all the time. It's Washington. Either that, or I had a major stroke several years ago and am living in some sort of nether world between life and death.

In any case, it's directly across the street from the Forest Hills T stop.
