Norma's only if you like that atmosphere.

For something infinitely better and so much less over-rated, try JANE in SoHo, 100 W Houston Street. Get the French Toast on Sun and you won't be dissapointed.

I hear Cookshop is another good choice.

Right, only if you like "that" atmosphere, and incredible food....

I have some great recs, but I haven't lives in NYC for 4 years, so I'm not sure if they're still open, but when I was there I LOVED these palces. 1) Danal on 10th St at 3rd Avenue. It has a French countryside feel and a back patio. 2) Old Devil Moon I think 13th between Avenue B & C. They have AMAZING sticky buns. 3) Kitchenette on 121st and Amsterdam, they have unusual omlettes.

All still open. I haven't been to Kitchenette in a while, but was good a few years ago. I still like Danal.

Ditch Plains on Downing St in the West Village is open early for breakfast. It's nice and quiet and has a great neighborhoody feel to it in the morning.

9th Street Market on 9th b/t 1st and 2nd. AMAAAAZZINNGG. Show up before 1030 however to avoid a line... I cant imagine much competing with this place..

I'm blanking out on a lot of breakfast places, but I know that Half King in Chelsea makes a really good one. The vegetarian breakfast (eggs, tomatoes, potatoes and baked beans) brings me back to when I lived in London.
