Bday Sunday Brunch for 90 people (incl. 20 kids)

Please help!!! I'm looking for a place to host my mom's b-day brunch on a Sunday in July. We'll have about 90 people (including 20-30 kids). The budget is about $30-40 pp, and preferably no charge for little kids (under 6). The location could be Westside (anywhere from W. Hollywood to Marina) or the Valley (but not too far, around Ventura Blvd. would be ideal).

I've looked at the Sportsmen's Lodge but don't really like either food or facilities. Checked some nice hotel brunches (the Four Seasons, Hotel Bel-Air, Lowe's in SM), but they're all more expensice than our budget will allow. I'm currently looking at the Universal Hilton, but I would prefer for the brunch to be set up separately for our group, which is not the case with the Hilton. Searched this board's prior posts and came up with Ca Del Sol; their catering manager is supposed to call me back. Looking for a place with good food and a nice atmosphere, basic American brunch fare, not too ethnic. Also need a place with enough room for the kids to run around (we'll probably get a clown to entertain the kids). Any other ideas??? Please help! Don't know where else to turn...

Thanks so much in advance!

I had my baby shower at La Cachette and it was beautiful. they are usually closed for lunch on the weekends, but they open for private parties. We were on a budget and they were very willing to work with us. If i remember correctly we had a food minimum of 1,500 and we paid about 40 per person for a limited menu. The room is absolutely beautiful for special occasions like that, they also had a side room that we didnt use cause we were only 60, but you could probably seat all of the kids in there.

    good luck with your search.

Hi, you could try the Castaway in Glendale.

I have hosted a party there every year on a sunday for years, its a no-brainer. the room will hold 120, they are closed sunday, they have a very wide range of food and it falls within your budget

You might consider hiring a caterer and having your event at the Grace E. Simons Lodge, run by L.A.'s Park & Rec department. It's a beautiful facility and very reasonably priced. There is indoor and outdoor space, a kitchen, plenty of room for the kids to run around outside. The only problem might be getting a date - they're pretty booked in July for weddings.

I know about it because I had my wedding there -- it was absolutely beautiful, relaxed atmosphere, and great for kids. They have both outdoor picnic tables and a large indoor space with tables available.

Thanks so much! It sounds wonderful. I will definitely look at it. I would prefer a restaurant where everything is "taken care of" but will look at this as well.

just a heads up about pricing.
many places will tack on a 'service charge' of about 20%.
this charge often will NOT go to your servers.
if you want to tip your servers, you may need to budget additional money.

The Napa Valley Grille in Westwood might be able to handle it. Good luck!

Thanks! I looked on the website, and their private rooms are too small for a party this size (the entire restaurant is too big). Anywhere else? thanks!
