Suggestions for Mother's Day?

My stepmom will be here for Mother's Day and I'm soliciting ideas for where to take her for Mother's Day brunch/lunch/dinner. She is not a very adventurous eater or cook (goulash is her specialty, with all canned/processed ingredients), but this will also be MY Mother's Day celebration and I am SO not going to Applebee's.

So, your thoughts on the delicious middle ground? I did a search for past threads here, but nothing came up.

  1. I don't know who's offering a Mother's Day brunch, but here are some "middle of the road" places I think might fit:

Moonshine - nice Sunday brunch, lots of variety, make reservations (you may not even be able to get in now) - see if you can get the patio (as long as your mom's okay with steps)

Austin Java - Good breakfasts, great coffee, nothing daring

Old Pecan Street Cafe - We had new years there and while the food was good, it wasn't adventure-minded. Still much better than Applebee's

Eastisde Cafe - Really nice place to take mom. Food is better than the above. You will absolutely need to make a reservation now.

Cafe Bess - haven't been but the reviews sound very much like the above.

I'll second Eastside; my mother absolutely loves it, and she sounds similar in culinary curiousity to yours. You'd better make reservations pretty early on though-I imagine its a pretty popular place on M's Day.

Eastside Cafe is the place. Twill said a mouthful: call them today and book your reservation.

Thanks, y'all! Looks like it's unananananimous -- I will call Eastside tomorrow.
