About 10 of us will be going to dinner in Portsmouth probably mid week and looking for a good variety and good wine list, reasonably priced. Don't get out often, so please all advice is appreciated! Thanks!

So we can get a better idea what are you looking at per person? I'm not sure what you consider mid-range.

Best wine list in town is likely to be at Black Trumpet. If you're a seafood fan Jumpin' Jays is good and they also have a very respectable wine list.

thanks, kitty - um, not sure about how much per person - I guess it depends on the restaurants - just something that has decend food and not super expensive, like, the Wentworth. A boating club is going out and the 'club' is paying...so anything mid priced - Jumpin' Jays sounds good - have never been there, is it only seafood?

      THANKS!

Jumpin' Jays is 95% seafood for sure. So it might not be a good fit.

I haven't been to Black Trumpet yet (although I think I should get a free meal at this point for hyping it to so many ;)) but it's the place the chef from Lindbergh's opened - in the Lindbergh's space. It's only been open since March but all accounts are very good. http://www.blacktrumpetbistro.com/

It's impossible to replace Lindbergh's... It was just a very special place. But I think that that Black Trumpet is likely to wind up being Portsmouth's new restaurant darling any second now.
