I've given up on Babbo due to the difficult reservation process. Any suggestions? We are being taken out for our 5th anniversary so we want somewhere special that we have never been to. We've been to and like Union Square Cafe, Gotham, Gramercy Tavern, Ill Mulino, Peter Luger. Thanks for your input.

  1. If you haven't been to Eleven Madison Park since Chef Humm took over the kitchen last year, then it would definitely be my first choice.

If you want to stick with Italian, I highly recommend L'Impero.

Btw, you might want to correct your subject line to read "...cannot get into Babbo...."

    1. I'd suggest Tocqueville on 15th Street between 5th and Union Sq. West. Marco, the owner, is super nice and it lends itself for a special occasion very well - I enjoy the food every time.

You might consider Wallse in the West Village or Erminia on the upper East Side.

      2. Blue Hill is a great option as well. We went for my birthday in December and it was terriffic.

          cru is special ,

          love blue hill too

        2. I've always enjoyed Lever House's food and if you're at all an architectural crowd, the Marc Newsome interior in the SOM knock off of Mies is pretty nice.
