Five of us had tkts to The Overcoat at ACT, so trying out Colibri Mexican Bistro, the new Mexican small plates place across the street, where the chef had come from Boulevard, sounded like just the ticket :)

Disappointing. Too much hype--servers pushing items (you'll get our house special guacamole, and we'll spice it to your taste at the table), high prices for small quantities (I believe the tab was $14 for the 5 shrimp in the camerones al mole de tamarindo). Along with the camerones, we had sopes, sevice, jicama, cactus, carnitas, chicken mole, corn bread (also pushed by the server). Everything was good, nothing memorable. And the bill was steep.

Everyone should have listened to me and gone to the Tandoori-loin.

I agree. Not bad, but nothing that stays in the memory, and overpriced to boot.

I completely agree with your assessment. I felt like it was a tourist place the way the servers tried to push us into ordering particular dishes. And, yes, overpriced and, yes, not too memorable.
