Wine Tasting Course?

I did a search on this and nothing turned up, so forgive me if this is a repost.

I love wine, but I know absolutely nothing about it. I'm looking for some kind of course or workshop where I can learn about the different kinds of wines and hopefully gain a little bit of culture ;) I'm not looking to become a sommelier, I just want to increase my knowledge - or lack thereof... lol

Thanks in advance

I've taken the class at SAQ and found it to be a little unpersonal. I would recommend L'Amicale des sommeliers over SAQ. And I heard they also organize outings to restaurants, because in the end wine is all about food pairings isn't it? At least that's how I love to discover new wines and why successful restaurants work so hard on their wine lists.

There are private classes you can take through sommeliers in the city. I know of one who is starting up some classes in a few weeks, he gets about 6 to 8 people together and gives basics and thematic courses with meals. They are a great way to share food and wine with people and learn something new while having some fun! I'll try to get the contact information and post it.

I've taken the first two Les Connaisseurs classes from SAQ. I don't think they're offered in english but they are well conceived and a good part of the each night (6 for each class) is dedicated to tasting, 4 different wines each time. L'Amicale des sommeliers du Québec also offers classes I think. I know that Nick Hamilton has classes as well as Institut d'hôtellerie et du tourisme du Québec (ITHQ). These are some places you could look for.
